BABY Doll

Baby doll is a tiny, occasionally sleeveless, loose fitting nightdress or dressing gown planned as nightwear for females or ladies.  Sometimes it has shaped cups called a Bralette for cleavage with an attached loose fitting skirt falling in length usually between the upper thigh and the belly button. The garment is frequently trimmed and lace up, appliqués, ruffles,  marabou fur, bows and ribbons, optionally with spaghetti straps. Sometimes it is made of sheer or translucent fabric like nylon or chiffon or silk.
The name  Baby Doll became popular in 1956 when a movie  Baby Doll was released. Movie Baby Doll was starring Carroll Baker in the title role, which in actual fact discernible the commencement of the permanent recognition of the fashion for adults.

Similar type of short daywear dresses are also occasionally called baby doll dresses; Some styles of these baby doll dress are similar to what is worn by dolls in the form of infants, and by some infants; the gown is short enough that diapers are easily changed.
